Child-Friendly Ethos, Vision, Mission Statements for Knockmore Primary School
Thank you so much to our School Council for translating our Ethos, Vision and Mission statements to child-friendly language
Ethos:
Knockmore is an inclusive, diverse community rooted in Christian principles. We work together as a team for the benefit and progression of all children in a compassionate and understanding way with mutual respect for all. We enable and encourage each unique individual to achieve their full potential through a broad and balanced curriculum.
Vision:
To create a nurturing, child-centred inclusive environment where every child is empowered to grow into a confident, resilient individual, equipped to achieve their full potential.
Mission:
Our mission in Knockmore Primary School is to provide a safe, inclusive and child-centred educational setting that inspires and nurtures the potential of every child. We are committed to enabling our children to become confident and resilient individuals, experiencing success in life.
Values:
We believe that showing respect is fundamental to our community. We teach our children that respect for themselves, others, and their environment is essential for creating a harmonious and supportive atmosphere. By valuing and practicing respect, our students learn to appreciate diversity, build strong relationships, and contribute positively to society.
Kindness is at the heart of everything we do. We teach our children that acts of kindness, no matter how small, have the power to make a big difference. By fostering a culture of kindness, we create a supportive and nurturing environment where everyone feels valued and cared for. Our students learn that through kindness, they can build strong, positive relationships and contribute to a more compassionate world.
We presented our Equipping for Life reading volunteers with a certificate and bookmark for their Outstanding Kindness. We truly appreciate their generosity in giving up their time each week. Thank you, Volunteers!
This week we celebrated Children Mental Health Week by taking part in an assembly with the School of Kindness (www.schoolofkindness.org). We learnt about what mental health is, why it’s important and the many different ways we can improve our mental health. We also heard about this years' theme, which is Know Yourself, Grow Yourself! And finally, we chatted about the importance of kindness - to ourselves and to others.
We believe that happiness is essential for a fulfilling and successful life. We strive to create an environment where joy and positivity are encouraged and celebrated. By fostering happiness, we help our children develop a positive outlook, build resilience, and form meaningful connections with others. Our commitment to happiness ensures that every child feels supported, valued, and inspired to reach their full potential.
We are committed to creating a secure and nurturing environment where every child feels protected and cared for. By fostering a culture of safety, we ensure that our students can learn, grow, and explore with confidence. Our dedication to safety includes teaching children about personal safety, promoting a safe and inclusive community, and maintaining high standards for physical and emotional well-being.
We believe that honesty is the foundation of trust and integrity. We teach our children the value of being truthful and transparent in their words and actions. By fostering a culture of honesty, we help our students build strong, trustworthy relationships and develop a sense of moral integrity. Our commitment to honesty ensures that every child understands the importance of truthfulness and strives to live with integrity and authenticity.
We believe that responsibility is key to personal and community growth. We teach our children the importance of being accountable for their actions and making thoughtful decisions. By fostering a sense of responsibility, we help our students develop integrity, reliability, and a strong work ethic. Our commitment to responsibility ensures that every child understands the impact of their actions and strives to contribute positively to their community and the world.
We understand that resilience is crucial for overcoming challenges and achieving success. We teach our children to develop resilience by embracing difficulties as opportunities for growth and learning. By fostering a resilient mindset, we help our students build confidence, perseverance, and the ability to bounce back from setbacks. Our commitment to resilience ensures that every child is equipped with the skills and mindset needed to navigate life's ups and downs with strength and determination.
